The Character
Originally a warehouse in the late 1950s, the Brewery Lofts soon became a design studio and prop warehouse for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation where such renowned and respected artists as Glenn Gould, Jim Henson and Lorne Michaels once worked. The Brewery Lofts (also known as the Lofts at 90 Sumach) are home to many artists, designers and other creative professionals. The Units
The units are considered larger compared to Toronto's standard loft size & reflect its industrial heritage offering 14-foot ceilings, massive concrete pillars and lots of windows. Units vary in size and include one and two bedroom layouts, penthouse suites which include stairs to private rooftops. Units range from 738 to 3,695 square feet. The kitchens feature black and white chrome, and some suites have a double-showered bathroom. The split-level floor plans have elevated bedrooms overlooking the main living area that give these Toronto lofts a true "lofty" feel.
What We Love
For those wanting an industrial look in an edgy, up-and-coming neighbourhood, these coveted lofts could be just the thing. There aren't any amenities therefore, maintenance fees are low. Residents are usually young couples with dual household income or more mature buyers looking at a unit in the Brewery Lofts as a long-term or forever home therefore, there exists this wonderful sense of community and pride.
What We Don't
If amenities are the icing on the cake for you, then perhaps this isn't the right fit as there aren't any here.
