About The Neighbourhood
THE VIBE
Tree-lined streets and attractive homes characterize this west Toronto neighbourhood. Set between Etobicoke and Elmhurst Creeks, the area features a close-knit community and easy access to nature.
THE STORY
First granted to the Silverthorn family in 1810, Markland Wood was home to a sawmill, a grist mill and farmland. It was sold for development in 1958. Single family homes on generous lots were built in the 1960s, followed by apartments and condominiums.
THE ATTRACTIONS
The Markland Wood Country Club offers its members golf, fine dining and facilities for a truly beautiful wedding.
At approximately 435 acres, Centennial Park has room for biking, walking, frisbee golf and just plain relaxing. Two recreation centres make it easy to swim, skate, and play hockey.
THE COMMUNITY
The Markland Wood Homeowners Association ties this neighbourhood together. The Association promotes a host of community events such as all candidates nights meetings, a university scholarship program and the annual Christmas Caravan. A monthly newsletter keeps members up to speed about events in their neighbourhood.
THE BEST PART
You are never far away from nature trails, parkland, and a hidden gem of a golf course. A strong community completes the picture of great country living right here in the city.
